Overview
Life is no respecter of persons as Sarasota author, Gail Sullivan, quickly found out after enduring a storm of divorce, depression and addiction after 20 years of marriage. In her first book, The Yellow Brick Road: A Woman’s Journey To The Edge And Back, you’ll come upon a story of decline and redemption.
Challenge
As a self-publisher, Gail first approached us with a wide open canvas for creation. We needed to accurately represent the story of the book through the visual design and to do this, we listened closely to the heartbeat of the story herself. As Gail began to share the concept of the her book and its parallels to L. Frank Baum’s classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, we knew immediately what direction to take.
Solution
What we achieved with The Yellow Brick Road cover design was predicable enough to evoke a familiarity with the original while still remaining current and inventive. We then designed an commerce enabled micro-site for the book to host the majority of sales as well as blog space for Sullivan to interact with her audience. The 2-minute book trailer featured on the site gives prospect readers an enticing glimpse into what awaits them inside the covers.
